What is EFT Tapping?

EFT is an abbreviation for Emotional Freedom Technique. It is a self-help tool that allows you to process physical and emotional stress, traumas, negative emotions, and thoughts. EFT is a proven globally used technique that has helped many people. The method was developed by the American Gary Craig.

How does EFT work?

EFT utilizes meridian points from Chinese medicine and knowledge from modern psychology. You tap with two fingers on these specific meridian points while focusing on your issue.

In short: Tapping on these points stimulates the production of the happiness hormone serotonin. The cortisol/stress in your body decreases, allowing your mind to open up to see things differently.

How does this work in practice?

For example, you may have a fear of rejection or the belief "I always have to be strong" or "I'm not good enough." As a result, you often unconsciously behave in an unhelpful manner and feel restricted. Using the 4 G model (Event, Thought, Feeling, and Behavior) from schema therapy, we map out your negative event. Then, we identify the negative thoughts. From the negative thought comes the negative physical sensation and negative emotion. This leads to negative behavior. We now have a complete picture from which we can create resonating sentences that we will use while tapping on the 10 pressure points.

EVENT
THOUGHTS
FEELINGS – PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL
BEHAVIOR

We create a resonating sentence that corresponds to the negative event stored in the Amygdala in the brain. The Amygdala records what has been pleasant, unpleasant, and neutral for you from the past to the present. Then, we create a positive sentence for your goal that you want to achieve. Tapping on the 10 acupuncture pressure points causes your body to produce serotonin. This overwrites the negative event, thought/belief, feelings, or behavior in the Amygdala. You tap for 3-5 rounds. You start with a negative charge between 8 and 10 on a scale of 1-10. You do not relive the event but you touch on it. After each round of tapping, you check the negative charge. You will notice that the negative charge decreases after each round of tapping. After 30 days of tapping 3 times a day, the negative charge in the Amygdala is overwritten. You will feel freer and lighter, and you will exhibit more positive behavior when someone touches on your old emotional pain point.
